Position Summary
This position is on the Cullowhee Campus. This is a full-time benefits-earning position and is not considered student non-work study employment.

This position will assist in the area of Book Rental during seasonal peak periods or during times of heavy student traffic, and at other times will assist in the area of Purchase Books. Participate in inventory and staff the register as needed. In the Book Rental area responsibilities will include working the book counter, scheduling student workers, managing those same workers while on shift and inputting those students in the timeclock software. Makes recommendations for rehires when additional students are brought on during peak periods. Works with textbook managers on accuracy regarding inventory counts and current pricing. Maintains Excel and Word documents to assist textbook managers. Works with third-party vendors to sell out-of-season or dead stock. Assists with the resolution of textbook discrepancies and with invoicing and freight posting to ensure accurate replacement costs and a streamlined inventory process. Works with and assists other store functions on an as-needed basis.

Schedule Requirements: 40+ hours during the academic year from 8 am - 6 pm Monday - Thursday, 8am - 5pm Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday. Home football games, Open House, and fiscal inventory all occur on the weekends. Summer hours include Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. 3-4 Sundays are required per year.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
General knowledge of basic retailing, merchandising and inverntory principles. Knowledge of automated inventory control systems. Ability to maintain accurate records, knowledge of cashiering procedures and techniques; ability to provide assistance to students and staff regarding textbook information, policy and procedures; ability to follow written directions; must possess strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and couresy; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
