Responsibilities & Qualifications

Summary of Responsibilities

Define and maintain a comprehensive portfolio management framework, including processes, tools, and methodologies for prioritizing and measuring initiatives within the portfolio. Ensure that the initiatives and investments in the portfolio are aligned to strategic objectives and are visible and communicated across the organization. Manage and track resources, including budget and personnel across all initiatives within the portfolio to appropriately balance between meeting objectives and dealing with constraints and dependencies. Identify and manage risks at the portfolio level, assessing the impact on an individual initiative and the entire portfolio and mitigating risks to maximize flow. Collaborate and engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure alignment, gather feedback and manage expectations by communicating initiative and portfolio performance metrics. Monitor and evaluate the ongoing performance of initiatives against key metrics, developing reporting and visualizations to provide visibility to initiative progress, value delivery, and resource utilization. Support portfolio decision making for prioritization, sequencing, resources allocation, and conflict resolution by providing recommendations to ensure overall portfolio objectives are met. Drive continuous improvement of the portfolio management framework by identifying opportunities to increase flow and streamline processes. Facilitate and coordinate portfolio events that cross delivery teams to provide portfolio guidance, gather information about initiative progress, and promote best practice sharing. Other tasks as needed.

Preferred Experience and Skills

    7 years of experience in portfolio, program, and/or project management related roles, preferably leading complex corporate initiatives.
  • 3 years of experience working within an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain and present complex information across the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand the larger company strategy.
  • Strong system thinking to support stating with the end in mind.
  • Ability to change/respond to changing business objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with data analysis and forecasting
  • Proficiency of report development and visualization tools

Preferred Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Project Management or related disciplines.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • SAFe or Agile certifications preferred.
