Overview

Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital (LCH) has taken the community to another level of service to provide care for the growing population of children in our region. At 247 beds, LCH is the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington DC. It serves high acuity patients as the flagship children's hospital within the innovative Atrium Health and offers a full complement of over 125 pediatric subspecialists in over 30 different pediatric specialties. We have 4 pediatric hospitalist teams, a 20-bed PICU (including Cardiac ICU), an 85-bed Level IV NICU, and an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation floor. Levine Children's Hospital is also Charlotte's only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, staffed by doctors trained in pediatric emergency medicine. LCH has successfully ranked as a Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 16 consecutive years. Additionally, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital have earned Magnet re-designation from The American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. Job Summary

As part of Child Life Department and Patient Experience Teams, the Pediatric Patient Technology Specialist (PTS) will be responsible for overseeing and evaluating technology modalities that would serve to enhance the overall patient experience. The teammate would implement program development, set new initiatives, and maintain equipment, while also collecting data to justify positive outcomes. The PTS would provide one-on-one interactions with patients to normalize the hospital environment. This professional would use technology to collaborate with healthcare professionals to meet medical goals including: ambulation, critical thinking, motivation, and positive coping of children and adolescence. The PTS will be responsible for the overall gaming strategy, training, and technical support of various gaming platforms at Atrium Health Levine Childrens Hospital.


Essential Functions

  • Oversees bedside gaming program including inventory, set-up and maintenance.
  • Manages, develops and implements new patient technology, projects, programming and partnerships.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, updates and repairs gaming systems to ensure continued functionality and quality.
  • Maintains program statistics. Develop Job aids and standard of work documentation as needed.

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, silting, lifting, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support 51 pounds of weight in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.


Education, Experience and Certifications

Bachelors degree in Child or Human Development, Child Life, Education, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum one year of digital and/or gaming technologies experience required.
