Environmental Services Technician
GENERAL SUMMARY:

Simply put, we maintain the outdoor classroom. This is accomplished by understanding and complying with Federal and State laws and DoD regulations that pertain to each installation's environmental program and professionally managing natural resources to ensure sound sustainable stewardship of the public lands entrusted to the Army and other Federal agencies. Natural resource managers are mission enablers and ensure management decisions support the training and deployment of U.S. Armed Forces.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position serves in the Environmental Support Services for Fort Hood, Texas as an Environmental Service Technician. The incumbent will perform on-site environmental compliance related support services required to comply with the New Source Review (NSR) regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to support a wide variety of environmental projects including groundwater sampling, remediation oversight, remediation system installation, asbestos/mold assessments, and oversight of demolition and abatement. Experience in all listed responsibilities is not required, however, candidates must have a willingness to learn new skills.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Groundwater sampling
Soil sampling
Assisting with field activities associated with groundwater and soil remediation systems
Construction/Remediation oversight
Hazardous Waste and Refrigerants Compliance
Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) Maintenance and Compliance Testing
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry or related field is preferred
OSHA training is preferred
Five years' experience in managing environmental compliance and conservation projects
Required Skills/Abilities/Physical Requirements:
Legal authorization to work in the US
Valid driver's license to operate a vehicle in the US and a clean driving record
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Willingness and ability to travel and work in various outdoor site conditions and project locations
Ability to pass a workplace physical, drug screening, and background check
Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, company personnel, and regulatory personnel
Proficient in Microsoft Office
