As a Category Specialist for Busway, Selmer, Electrification, Distribution Solutions (ELDS), Selmer Tennessee, you will be responsible for supporting regional and global sourcing initiatives either under the leadership of a regional or global Category Manager or independently if under a defined threshold. You will purchase materials according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms, ensuring purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities

  • Supports the development and implementation of regional/global sourcing strategies in close alignment with the regional/global category leader
  • Negotiates agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists and terms and conditions
  • Runs benchmark studies for the Category team and for specific sourcing initiatives
  • Creates local contract amendments to frame agreements on behalf of a country and updates or maintains frame contracts
  • Supports regional or global sourcing initiatives within a defined set of categories, working closely with key stakeholders to implement regional category strategies
  • Onboards new suppliers in close collaboration with the respective local buyer, runs regular supplier evaluations and provides supplier reports to Businesses and Category Managers
  • Runs regional sourcing initiatives under a defined threshold
  • Initiates Purchase Orders (PO) in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirms the delivery with suppliers, monitors, and tracks supplier performance to PO requirements
  • Fosters communication internally, externally, and between businesses and supports the implementation of procurement activities and initiatives in the region or country through this clear communication
  • Demonstrates ABB's core values and group safety and integrity standards and acts accordingly
  • Implements and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies and processes in their assigned area
  • Ensures adherence to all relevant internal and statutory regulations and policies
  • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) terms, concept application, reporting, and risks
  • Ensures adherence to the collaboration objectives of the team to maximize results for ABB
  • Leads their development journey by seeking knowledge and learning opportunities within the team
  • Manages relationships with stakeholders in their own area of responsibility and ensures alignment
Your background

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Supply chain or related field and minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • ISM CPSM certification preferred
