Essential Job Duties | The primary purpose of this Postdoctoral Research Scholar position will be to develop ocean modeling tools and analysis, including ocean data assimilation, to study coastal circulation dynamics, biophysical interactions, and air-sea interactions in the northwestern Atlantic ocean. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will be mentored by Dr. Ruoying He and will contribute towards several recently awarded projects in the field of coastal ocean observations and prediction, marine ecosystem variability, and ecological forecasting. Dr. He and the Postdoctoral Research Scholar will meet regularly to discuss research as well as other aspects of professional development including but not limited to teaching, mentorship, outreach, service, and career plans. Under the guidance of Dr. He, the Postdoctoral Research Scholar will be expected to disseminate research results through presentations at meetings, prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal publication, and interact with other researchers and graduate students. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will work in a multidisciplinary team consisting of researchers in academia, industry, and government agencies. Duties and Responsibilities Duties for this position include model development, refinement, and validation. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will perform model simulations, data assimilation, model-data comparisons, analyses, visualizations, and data management. The position, available immediately, is a full-time appointment, initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance and available funding. |
