Position Summary
The School of Nursing seeks a 12-month, fixed term, Visiting Professor to provide academic instruction in the DNP Nursing Anesthesia program and lead a special project to enhance scholarly communication and advance the scholarly publication efforts of tenure-track faculty. The successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, active certification with the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists, will demonstrate a strong background in academic writing and research, and have a proven track record in mentoring faculty toward achieving their scholarly goals. This appointment will be for one year.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a series of structured writing workshops tailored to the needs of nursing faculty. The workshops will cover topics such as identifying research topics, developing research questions, literature review strategies, scholarly writing, and navigating the publication process.
  • Establish a mentoring program providing faculty with one-on-one guidance and feedback on their research and writing projects.
  • Create a comprehensive repository of writing and research resources.
  • Facilitate collaborative research opportunities within the institution and with external partners.
  • Implement and manage a system to track and evaluate the progress and outcomes of participating faculty members.
  • Teach graduate-level courses as assigned by the school director and program administrator.

Expected Outcomes:
  • Increase the scholarly output of tenure-track faculty as evidenced by the number of peer-reviewed publications, research abstracts accepted by professional conferences, and other scholarly works.
  • Enhance faculty's research capacity through increased grant applications, research proposals, and establishment of new research collaborations.
  • Support professional development leading to faculty promotion and progression towards tenure.
  • Improve faculty's writing and research skills with demonstrable advancements through pre- and post-assessment metrics.
  • Expand faculty's professional networks and opportunities for external collaboration and recognition.
  • Integrate new research findings into the nursing program's curriculum, enhancing the educational experience for students.
  • Ensure long-term engagement in scholarly activities among faculty members, with a continued impact on their professional growth and the institution's academic reputation.
