Job Summary

Provides guidance and assistance in areas of Employment, Compensation, Classification, discipline, and employee relations for Civil Service and Extra Help positions. Coaches and counsels' supervisors and administrators regarding policies and procedures related to recruitment and selection, probationary periods, layoffs, promotions, discipline, performance issues and other personnel actions. As part of a team with other Human Resource professionals, collaborate and participate in group and cross-functional initiatives and provide constructive support pertaining to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$27.14/hour

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.

2. Two (2) years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience performing professional-level human resources duties. The two years must have included experience in providing guidance and assistance to supervisors in the areas of compensation, classification, qualifying applicants, interviewing, and hiring.

3. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities on a daily basis.

4. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

5. Must have the ability to understand and interpret applicable state and federal laws.

6. Must have the ability of exercising professional judgment on a consistent basis.

7. Must have the ability to organize, analyze and interpret data and have strong attention to detail.

Work Hours

Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

1. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
3. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
