POSITION TYPE: Temporary, PT (2 semester assignment 25 hours/week), FLSA Exempt

Anticipated appointment period 8/1/2024 - 12/20/2024 and 1/31/2025 - 5/30/2025

HOURLY RATE: Hourly rate commensurate with education and experience.

Description of Duties:

Position reports to the Chair of Chemistry. Duties include teaching 2 sections of AP Chemistry, three (3) 50-min lectures and one (1) 90-min laboratory per week, per section; one collaborative meeting with other AP Chemistry instructors; grading of assessments and laboratory reports; administration of final exams; dedicated time to meet with students after school; total of 25 hours a week, sections available either in the morning or in the afternoon.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Experience in teaching chemistry. Ability to teach highly engaging classes with special emphasis on quantitative, lab-based, and hands-on activities including student-led research. Willingness to teach residential and online courses.



Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in Chemistry, Science or Science Education; demonstrated track record in chemistry education; preparation for teaching a diverse student population as demonstrated by training or experience; experience in use of educational technology.
