Team Leader - New Century, KS

NATURE OF WORK

  • Responsible for providing leadership to production department teams of employees and lead operators.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:


Lead by example

  • Provide teams with information, tools, training and techniques that enable employees to perform their jobs consistently every day.
  • Ensure that the plant is operating by set work instructions and SOP's.
  • Provide daily feedback to team members on production, schedules, quality, and safety.
  • Assure that all important information is transmitted to the next shift.
  • Provide input to the Productive Supervisor on production personnel performance and the cross-functionality of the team.
  • Practice and promote safety, quality and sanitation by following plant policies, GMP's and procedures. Compliance with these policies, procedures and GMP's is required. In addition, you have an obligation to yourself, the company and your fellow employees to report any safety hazards observed including failure of others to follow safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Provide information and assistance in planning and implementing new projects.
  • Coordinate temporary employees and ensure proper training is performed.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function for this position.
  • Compliance with all Company policies is required.
  • Assist with training a back up lead to cover absences.
  • Other functions as required (non-essential functions).
  • Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO, Food Safety, Food Defense and an understanding of IFF Quality Policy and procedures.
  • Manage shift vacation and overtime.
  • Coordinate contractor and maintenance work in your area.

Assist with administrative activities such as:

  • Managing daily production schedule, also attending weekly production lock down.
  • Submit attendance report weekly,
  • Communication for out of spec batches are sent to the Lab / Management.
  • Checking HACCP logs and signing offInventory items as needed and fix discrepancies in SAP
  • WMP- Ensuring notifications are entered for maintenance needs in SAP and follow-up on these notifications to completion.
  • Verify weekly/monthly: COID, POV's, Inventory, Cleaning Coupons, Safety Walks
  • Verify batch sheets are being filled out correctly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must have a high school or equivalent education. Experience in the production department and SAP is preferred. Past Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability is a plus. Must be a good communicator with the ability to follow written as well as verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team as required. Incumbent must be willing to work overtime if needed.


SCOPE OF POSITION

This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and has some supervisory responsibilities. Position will assist Production Supervisor in performance evaluations and corrective actions pertaining to production department employees. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Production Supervisor and make independent decisions regarding the work of the team. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.


WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a production/plant environment 50% of the time. This position requires lifting up to 55 lbs. (25 kg). Incumbent must be willing to work in hot and/or cold environments. Incumbent must also be willing to work in a dusty environment and be willing/able to wear half or full-face respirators.
