Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO)

Position Summary:

We are looking for a driven Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join our Charleston, SC office and support our clients. The AFSO will regularly interface with the FSO, Project Managers, and LCE staff. The selected candidate will be responsible for all AFSO duties for our client. This is a full-time position.

Contract Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the FSO with the overall security program.
  • Process new employee security clearances.
  • Track security clearance investigations and perform administrative support functions, including National Background Investigation Services (NBIS) and Electronic Application tool (eApp).
  • Provide security briefings, debriefings, and awareness training for personnel.
  • Process outgoing visit requests and certifications.
  • Review required forms, processes, and screens security forms (SF86).
  • Oversee the company's completion and retention of personnel security clearance records.
  • Assist other team members with their responsibilities based on volume of work and established priorities.
  • Organize self and workspace to ensure timely completion of assigned duties, accounting for unanticipated support needs and changing priorities.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
  • Defense Security Service (DSS)-qualified AFSO with 2 years of experience in security programs as an AFSO or in a related field.
  • Possess, at minimum, a DOD Secret Clearance.
  • Strong knowledge of DISS, NBIS, and e-App government programs, SF86, SF312, SF328 and DD254.
  • Must demonstrate by knowledge and experience the ability to manage and oversee a comprehensive Security Compliance Program.
  • Professional attire and communication skills; must be able to think and act quickly in ways that generate consistently positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work as a team player and demonstrate personal initiative to complete the work of the team as a whole.
  • Must be sensitive to the professional expectations of the business, ensuring a positive impression for all stakeholders.
  • Must be highly reliable and capable of meeting work schedule consistently.
Physical Demands and Expectations:
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 25 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
