Repairs Coordinator - Part Time

For one year, get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands-on experience and prepare for your future. This part-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The part-time Repairs Coordinator will work with the Repairs Manager and Repairs Project Manager. Most of the work will be office-based, but the AmeriCorps member will also assist with initial home assessments and occasional site visits. The AmeriCorps member will have the opportunity to work on site with the Repairs team during occasional staff build days. Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday on the build site.

  • Work with Repairs Project Manager to assess and plan needed repairs. Assist with coordinating site visits with Repairs team for repair requests.
  • Enhance project documentation by taking/organizing project photos and speaking with homeowners about their history in their homes.
  • Maintain site safety by adhering to Habitat construction safety policies, modeling best practices and guidelines, volunteer education and site monitoring.

This position will focus on home repair aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Activities and attractions: Durham is a hub of entrepreneurship and a destination for arts, culture, sports, and food. Not only do we have fantastic events like Food Truck Rodeos and Iron Pours, but we are also home to the Durham Bulls AAA baseball team. As an AmeriCorps member in Durham, you will learn about the role our city played in the Civil Rights movement and how decisions made years ago have shaped our mission for affordable housing today.
  • Unique projects: The Repairs Coordinator will be our very first in this position. The member will work with our Critical Repairs team and Homeowner Services team to enhance communication with homeowner families being served. The member will have the unique opportunity to help us shape the direction and learning goals of this position. There is potential to expand to a full-time position for future service years based on the outcome.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
