Jr. Cybersecurity Engineer

The Jr. Cybersecurity Engineer - will work to maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO) of several information systems within the United States Army Reserve Command (USARC). The Jr. Cybersecurity Engineer will take direction from a team lead but has reasonable autonomy to seek process improvements and to engage in enterprise and system-level cybersecurity-related engineering tasks.

The successful candidate should have experience performing assessment and authorization tasks, good verbal / written communication skills, and the ability to interpret NIST and DoD guidance. Additionally, the candidate will have knowledge of industry tools (i.e. ACAS, HBSS, Tanium, DISA STIGs, Cisco ISE, Active Directory, etc.).

Applicant must have a bachelor's degree in information technology related field or two years of applicable experience.

Experience (Required)

  • Ability to develop, create and deliver briefings to management personnel.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (MS Project, Word, OneNote, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).

Preferred

  • IAT II security certification in compliance with DoDI 8570 / 8140
  • Experience using A&A/RMF workflow tools such as eMASS and XACTA
  • Understanding of DR, COOP, IRP and BCP processes and testing
  • Understanding of RMF documentation
  • Understanding of Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM)
  • Understanding of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)

Desired

  • Experience organizing and conducting Site Assistance Visits or similar travel experience of performing assessments (collecting information), returning and completing trip related reporting.
  • Familiarity with privacy overlays and PPSM
  • Familiarity with drafting military correspondence and orders

Skills and responsibilities

  • Effective oral and written communications is key for this position.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to USAR sites to perform Site Assistance Visits (SAV) (10%-25% Travel)
  • Operate as part of a team that is responsible for the following processes and deliverables:
    1. Understanding of DISA security requirements and the rapid changes needed to secure the networks are key for this position.
    2. Provide input to the government periodic evaluation reports on the programs to include approved goals and targets, delivery status and effectiveness of the programs.
    3. Provide input for building and maintaining a catalog of standard service reports that describe how well services are being delivered and the overall quality of service delivery such as threat assessments, compliance reports, Risk Management Framework reports, Command Cyber Readiness Inspection Reports (CCRI), briefings, and Site Assistance reports.
    4. Developing and maintaining monthly Service Audits reflecting the effectiveness of the delivery, and recommendations for improvement
    5. Conducting service audits to identify how well services are being delivered and potential opportunities for improvement. Provide reports that summarize the audit's findings.
    6. Provide input to numerous government reports on the effectives of security programs.
    7. Participate in Cybersecurity Training Program
    8. Coordinate project tasks involving multiple stakeholders
