Primary Purpose of Organization Unit | The Director of Online Learning will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Office of Online Learning. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, staff, and senior leaders across campus to develop new online programs and support existing online programs. The Office of Online Learning is committed to providing affordable and accessible education to a diverse student population. This position reports to the Associate Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. |
Primary Purpose of Position | The Director of Online Learning will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Office of Online Learning. The successful candidate will have a strong record of developing, implementing, managing, and assessing a comprehensive online education enterprise and should be committed to providing an affordable and accessible education to a diverse student population. The Office of Online Learning manages the integration of all teaching technologies into online, hybrid, and in-person classes and provides appropriate training for faculty and staff to use those technologies. The director will ensure continuous evaluation and assessment of online and hybrid course offerings, which includes providing metrics for quality online and hybrid teaching and training for department chairs to evaluate online and hybrid courses. The Office of Online Learning is responsible for ensuring that faculty are aware of the latest teaching technologies and pedagogical strategies and providing them training to use those technologies and strategies in their online, hybrid, and in-person classes. The successful candidate will manage and assess current training programs, such as the Certificate of Online Teaching Excellence. The successful candidate will supervise a staff four people, including instructional designers and administrative support personnel, and will collaborate with faculty, staff, and senior leaders across campus in carrying out the mission of the Office of Online Learning. This is an on-site position that reports to the Associate Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. |
Job Description | Primary Duties:
* Develops, implements, and assesses instructional design training for academic departments, the schools and colleges, the Teaching and Learning Center, and other stakeholders. * Collaborates with faculty, staff, and senior leaders to develop innovative for-credit, certificate, and continuing-education online and hybrid courses. * Provides accessible advising, tutoring, and writing enhancement services for online and hybrid students. * Oversees the budget and provides strategic development of revenue generation and extramural funding.
