We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Used Equipment Purchasing Manager to join our Remarketing team. The primary responsibility of this role is to source, negotiate, and purchase used Ag and CE equipment to support our organization's operations. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for assessing equipment quality, strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of market trends and values. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing our equipment procurement process and ensuring that we acquire high-quality assets at competitive prices.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Research and identify potential sources for used equipment, including auctions, dealerships, online marketplaces, and private sellers.
  • Evaluate the condition, functionality, and value of used equipment through inspections, assessments, and collaboration with technical experts.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements with sellers to secure the best possible terms, including price, delivery, warranties, and payment terms.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and industry contacts to expand the network of available equipment and stay informed about market trends.
  • Coordinate logistics and transportation arrangements for purchased equipment, ensuring timely delivery to our facilities or job sites.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including our Agriculture, Construction, and Vermeer regions.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence processes, including verification of ownership, maintenance records, and legal compliance, to mitigate risks associated with equipment purchases.
  • Analyze and interpret data related to equipment pricing, market demand, and depreciation to inform purchasing decisions and optimize asset allocation.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Travel requirement of 30%
  • Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles, with a focus on acquiring used equipment in industries such as agriculture, construction, or manufacturing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to drive favorable outcomes in purchasing transactions.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and proficiency in data interpretation to assess equipment values and market trends.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with vendors, negotiate terms, and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
