ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and is located in Mebane, North Carolina. As a Production Operator Epoxy 1st shift, you will be responsible for supporting the business in achieving the set production targets by adhering to the systems and processes within manufacturing. Employee will correctly and safely use machinery and equipment on the shop floor, read and interpret the technical diagrams & instructions for assembly of products, systems and panels.

Your responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety requirements and company policies
  • Prepare copper bus and steel components for powder coating process and electroplating processes
  • Operate automatic and manual coating equipment
  • Reads blueprints or similar documentation, then produces to those specifications
  • Uses various hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Maintains logs, records, and reports concerning production, machine maintenance, and product inconsistencies
  • Maintains equipment and conveyors and performs basic repairs when needed
  • Inventories tools, parts, and supplies
  • Periodically checks products per company policy to ensure quality and uniform completion; resolves any identified problems and alerts supervisor
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Conducts all types of assembly work to produce semi-finished or final products/systems/panels, including the packing where integrated with production lines
  • Performs work manually or by using light hand tools
  • Performs regular quality testing as part of a defined production process
  • Operates within standard operating procedures and maintains a clean work area
Your background

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge and use of tools - tape measure, calipers, grinders, or other hand tools
  • Knowledge of 5S - sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain
  • Knowledge and use of necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to use crane or other lifting devices, as needed
  • Ability to safely use a ladder while performing the job, as needed
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 40lbs
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English Language
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple or basic instructions
  • Basic computer skills to be able to look up parts
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Basic communication skills
  • Hand, eye coordination skills and use of both hands
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
