Lipscomb Academy Faculty:

  • are knowledgeable of principles, methods, and current developments in their academic discipline.
  • are knowledgeable of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned.

  • are able to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
  • continually engaged in professional development.
  • advocate for the institution and serve as ambassadors for the school at all times.
  • are aware that, included in their regular duties, there are reasonable expectations for serving as a sponsor, chaperone, or supervisor for various co-curricular and/or extra-curricular activities.
  • work with the department chair and administration to create an annual curriculum calendar for all courses.
  • design comprehensive unit plans for each course.
  • create weekly lesson plans based on well-researched best practices.
  • employ effective classroom management skills.
  • differentiate instruction as appropriate.
  • use student collaboration in an effective way.
  • implement strategies that develop critical thinking skills.
  • employ a learner-centered approach to instruction.
  • develop positive relationships with students.
  • attend all faculty events and activities as required in the faculty handbook.
