Oversee all educational and research missions of the Department of Pediatrics and serve as a liaison between EVMS and Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, other EVMS departments, our other Healthcare Partners, Community Faculty, and relevant State Agencies as requested by Dean.
The chair will provide leadership and support to the Departmental Faculty, consisting of those employed by EVMS, the sub-specialist full-time faculty employed by Children's Specialty Group (CSG), and the primary care pediatric faculty, employed by CHKD's Children's Medical Group (CMG), the Children's Surgical Specialty Group (CSSG) as well as additional community faculty. The Chair is also Chief of Academic Affairs at CHKD, and in that role, they will have overall responsibility for all academic activities throughout CHKD, and additional responsibilities as directed by the President/CEO or designee of CHKD.
Provide leadership and administrative oversight of the Department's education, research programs and resources. Advance the research, clinical and education missions and leverage relationships and resources with both internal stakeholders and external partners. Promote the importance and impact of research and scholarly activities in the context of maintaining an active and impactful clinical enterprise. Seek ways to elevate the reputation of the Department in partnership with the Dean. Represent the Department within the School of Medicine and the institution broadly.
Board Certified in Pediatrics and appropriate subspecialty as relevant, and must be able to be licensed in the state of VA.
Experience in a leadership role in academic medicine, preferable as a Division Chief or previous Chair of Pediatrics. The new Chair of the Department of Pediatrics will be a nationally recognized clinician-scientist with a distinguished career as a scholar, educator, and clinician.
