Position Overview:

The Senior SQL Database Administrator is responsible for Enterprise Database Management for Artivion, Inc., globally. This position will provide senior level capabilities relative to database solutions and sizing for the company, leads and drive database projects and is responsible for the daily operations and performance of the SQL Database Environments within Artivion, Inc.

The Senior Database Administrator has the responsibility of administrating, monitoring, and troubleshooting a 24x7 production environment's database servers and associated infrastructure. This role with other team members to ensure 100% uptime, plan future capacity requirements, maintain security, and apply updates. As a Senior SQL DBA, you will solve exciting technical challenges by analyzing, troubleshooting, and designing vital services, platforms, and infrastructure while always thinking about reliability, scalability, resilience, security, and performance.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for day-to-day activities regarding the upkeep and availability of all database servers in the environment including lower environments.

2. Establish processes for 'Follow the Sun' support to ensure 7x24 SQL availability using existing Artivion resources by training and documentation. Sourcing external resources to support DBA resource unavailability such as vacation and conflicting project activities.

3. Create and maintain documentation to support configuration management of the shared database environment.

4. Perform database enterprise environment capacity planning and availability management.

5. Consult with and advise senior management on high impact database solutions and database management topics.

6. Lead multiple infrastructure planning and implementation including instance strategy, technical platform selection, architecture design, backup, and recovery strategy.

7. Gathers business requirements and translate these into clearly defined plans.

8. Researches and implements performance improvement tools/techniques to our SQL databases including data storage, logging, in-memory object/databases, tuning tools, and performance monitoring tools.

9. Administers SQL databases, monitoring backups, space utilization, and software updates.

10. Reviews backup and recovery strategy quarterly and works with Operations to maintain and test disaster recovery databases.

11. Design and implement high availability solutions for business-critical database applications.

12. Ensuring compliance with SOX Audit Requirements, this includes ensuring correct security request procedures are adhered to, quarterly reviews and providing SOX evidence in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications:

1. SQL Server Enterprise database architecture experience - sizing version 2014, 2016 and 2017, high-level understanding of how backup, high availability, BCP and capacity planning are designed and implemented in a SQL Server shared consolidated environment

2. Ability to plan project timelines, schedules, resources and successfully deliver projects on time and on budget

3. Excellent verbal, written communication and documentation skills

4. 5+ year's database design and administration experience

5. Advanced SQL Server replication, clustering knowledge

6. 5+ years of experience in database, systems and infrastructure architecture

7. 3+ years of experience with database virtualization and high availability solutions

8. 3+ years of experience with BCP/Replication solutions

9. Proven ability to troubleshoot and trace data-related issues throughout the architecture.
