Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Career Development Center assists in making sure that students are prepared to enter the workforce by offering workshops and resume preparation to enhance and increase the likelihood of students being offered and accepting gainful employment. These services help students develop their professional capabilities and build upon their strengths as they prepare for employment in the global workplace. "Offering a World of Opportunities", we help students reach their personal and professional career goals.
Description of Work
The Career Development Advisor (CDA) is responsible for providing professional career development support; coordinating career readiness plans for undergraduate students; and providing counseling services on an individual and group basis using a variety of tools, assessments, techniques and inventories to provide guidance throughout the process. The CDA will work in tandem with students in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Taking lead from the Executive Director of Career Development and Quality Enhancement Plan, the CDA will work with student engagement program coordinators, academic department chairs, and deans to implement effective strategies to prepare students for life after college through robust co-curricular and extra-curricular campus activities. The advisor will forge partnerships with faculty and create modules that complement the academic curriculum and align with best practices for career exploration, preparation, and development.

Possess a strong commitment to helping under served populations.

Moderate to exceptional experience in delivering multi modal career-readiness content for small and large groups.

Proven track record of building relationships and rapport with job seekers and diverse populations.

Demonstrated experience working independently.

Experience with applying innovative approaches to career goal-setting and achievement.

Comprehensive knowledge of job matching process and best practices in talent acquisition.

Possess interpersonal skills which would allow effective communication with administrators, faculty, and students.
Minimum Training and Experience
Possess a Master's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in higher education, workforce development, business related field or equivalent combination of experience and training with required knowledge, skills and abilities. *At least one (1) year in a professional, non-student role, in career counseling, career and technical advising, or workforce development with similar population. *Strong preference given to individuals with previous experience in cooperative education, career services, or other student service areas at the college/university level. *Experience in managing projects with a diverse group of stakeholders is mandatory.
