Position: Advanced Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Position Overview: The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will assess, develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes across multiple facilities within the group. This includes playing a key role in the evaluation, selection, justification, and execution of capital expenditures in support of existing production, new products, and strategic projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote safety by identifying process hazards and developing engineering solutions.
  • Continually seek ways to improve manufacturing systems through the development and advancement of equipment, tools, fixtures, methods, processes, procedures, standards, and quality systems; including the identification, evaluation, and selection of new capital equipment.
  • Observe, document, and standardize manufacturing processes and procedures, including analysis and reporting of manufacturing data to identify issues, opportunities and performance.
  • Utilize manufacturing expertise to support company objectives across multiple facilities, requiring travel in excess of 50% of the time, working with manufacturing engineering and plant management to effectively implement initiatives.
  • Analyze part drawings/specifications and establishes production processes from start to finish. Includes determining routing steps, selecting machining processes and equipment, specifying tooling, designing fixturing, defining all aspects of machining the part (such as reference points, cutting paths, and feed rates), and creating CNC programs utilizing CAM and/or written code.
  • Performs trial runs, troubleshooting, and process validation; operating machinery to ensure parts can be produced to meet specifications.
  • Develop, lead, manage, and contribute to detailed action plans and projects which may include design, development, rebuilding, cost savings, and continuous improvements.
  • Possess, acquire, and utilize hands-on expertise of manufacturing equipment to demonstrate process, program, and equipment capabilities and train production operators.
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • Broad based manufacturing expertise of equipment and process associated with metals machining and electromechanical assembly.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical, electrical or technical information.
  • Experienced in capital equipment acquisition process for manufacturing facilities
  • Lean manufacturing experience, including one piece flow cells and SMED
  • Advanced analytical, multi-tasking, and problem solving skills coupled with ingenuity and creativity.
  • Experienced in CNC machining, programming, GD&T, CAM systems, tooling, and fixture design.
  • Implementation experience with factory digitization/MES.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and MRP software (SAP preferred).
  • Understanding and utilization of metrology and geometric tolerances.
  • Project management skills; including initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • 2 years of CNC programing experience
