Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge in identifying and summarizing relevant research articles, writing literature reviews, developing data collection instruments, collecting data, organizing and coding data, analyzing results, writing manuscripts, and conference presentations. Other assigned activities may include planning and participating in graduation activities, serving as a panelist for perspective student informational sessions, attending program fairs, etc. Functions of a graduate teaching assistant involve assisting with class preparation, grading papers, exam proctor, leading class discussions and other assigned activities by the primary instructor. Graduate assistants will be assigned to a faculty member and will work with the faculty member on the research or in the classroom.

Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative, research and teaching support to the faculty in identifying and summarizing relevant research articles, writing literature reviews, facilitate projects in the office with other students, grading papers and exam proctoring. Graduate Assistants support departmental processes and serve a variety of purposes that are critical to the goals and mission of the Department of Social Work.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Social Work at NC Central University's mission is to prepare students for generalist social work practice (BSW) and advanced generalist practice (MSW). We further prepare our students to become culturally competent and ethical social work practitioners by affording them experiential learning opportunities, and assessments where they must demonstrate competence in various areas of practice.
