Day & Zimmermann is actively accepting applications for a Commercial Manager to support our PMO.


As the Commercial Manager here's the work you'll do:

  • Draft and assist with coordination of change management documents to include Change Notices and Requests for Proposals Responses
  • Review contract documents (plans, project/technical specifications, engineering reports) and establish and validate the merit of Request for Change
  • Coordinate scoping/cost analyses/quantity reviews/negotiation meeting agendas, take meeting minutes, prepare exhibits, and assist in preparing presentations.
  • Draft and assist in the preparation of negotiation summaries and Contract Change Order documentation.
  • Review, organize, and respond to relevant correspondence that documents construction issues.
  • Review Provisional Sum Allowances (Time and Materials/Firmed Fixed Price) in coordination with field staff.
  • Update Change Management Logs and participate in contingency and project risk discussions.
  • Work with Contract Administration and Project Management staff
  • Coordinate response time frames for change management and task order documents
  • Coordinate in the development of Rough Order Magnitudes/Independent Cost Estimates with Estimator
  • Coordinate the deliverables for assigned tasks with the Contractor and team members.

This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Ability to communicate with project team regarding technical specifications and design drawings.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to analyze costs and schedule differences and impacts.
  • Ability to work with online collaboration tools such as Oracle and Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficient in MS Office products and use of spreadsheets (Word and Excel)
  • Highly motivated and willing to work with staff with various professional backgrounds.
  • Able to grasp complex issues.
  • Flexibility in assignments and responsibilities
  • Strong writing, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in a team environment with significant client interface

And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a change order specialist or in the change management space
  • Experience managing through a sub contractor
In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $44,000- $151,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Win Estimator is a plus
  • Ability to regularly perform all job functions at Company's office or worksite.
  • Ability to withstand environmental conditions (e.g. extreme heat or cold, grass, wind, sand, fumes, odors, gases, extreme noise, etc.)
