Description

The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. in the field of education, leadership, public service, policy, health care, or other appropriate field associated with this degree program. An entrepreneurial spirit and excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are critical to success. Experience in teaching in both face-to-face and online/hybrid delivery models and evidence of strong management skills applicable to an academic program are desired. Passion for working with doctoral programs and doctoral students is required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of leadership abilities and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and constituencies, and to use technology to enhance learning.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a compelling vision that fits the mission of the university, College of Education, and the Ph.D. program.
  • Assist Director with the day-to-day activities and operations of the Ph.D. program.
  • Assist Director with the development of appropriate handbooks, manuals, policies, practices, activities, and course development associated with program delivery as well as application of best practices and implementation of program assessment and making recommendations for program/policy adjustments.
  • Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, review, and selection of applicants to the doctoral program.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for Ph.D. students and connect them with appropriate university resources to assist with their persistence and success in the program.
  • Serve as an advisor for dissertation research and serve on doctoral committees.
  • Assist the Director with maintaining the integrity and quality of the doctoral program.
  • Assist with the development of an atmosphere which blends professional learning and high quality teaching and learning standards, and collaborate with the Ph.D. faculty in creating a learning community that values and adopts the most effective doctoral level instructional practices.
  • Assist with building community between the Ph.D. program, the contributing curriculum partners on campus, and constituencies in the larger community.
  • Attend appropriate meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
  • Teach courses in the Ph.D. and/or other programs as assigned.

Education: Ph.D required in the field of education, leadership, public service, policy, health care, or other appropriate field associated with this degree program.

Experience: Administrative and teaching experience. Strong knowledge and management skills associated with planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing academic programs.
