About this Position:

Guide new technologies and mass production developments by generating new technical ideas and maturing concepts designs and drawings to meet the established specification and guidelines with the key purpose of maintaining Honda's high quality and customer's satisfaction in mainly, but not limited to, the Power Products category.

Responsibilities include:

* Working independently with minimal support from upper-level associates utilizing key tools to generate high level drawings representing key technologies that meet the specification targets:

* 2D/3D CAD Software (Catia)

* FTA/FMEA

* Drawing Issue Processing (Endeavor)

* Appropriate Guidelines, Standards, and Regulation

* Key Design Calculations (Gear, Spring, FEA, Tolerance Stacks, etc.)

* With these drawings, facilitate the prototype generation, engineering estimates, supplier negotiations, factory assembly confirmations and finally mass production specification setting.

* Support on-site activities such as prototype builds and collaboration with research members to understand test related concerns and implement countermeasures to design.

* Drive or establish small project teams through Project Leader Role to meet the targets and schedule of the development by ensuring:

* Deadlines achieved (SED and TE Milestones)

* Resource needs are coordinated with supervisor.

* Effectively utilize contractor resources

* Communicate project status and participate or lead project meetings, discussions, and development events.

* Drive or establish bill of materials to track impacts of new technologies, features, and components by using cost tables, cost simulation software, and supplier quoting to guarantee project team cost targets are maintained.

* Drive and develop basic ideas to improve Honda competiveness by product features and technologies, or by factory or development efficiency with minimal supervision.

* Support or drive market quality and VA themes with minimal supervision. Utilize problem-solving methods to analyse root causes. Develop and implement C/M specs as necessary with minimal supervision. Support recurrence prevention when appropriate.

Who we are seeking:

Required Experience:

* 3+ years engineering experience preferably in Power Products or Powersports

Required Education:

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in related field

Other job specific skills:

* Strong ability to guide small development teams.

* Ability to interact/communicate effectively with staff/management

* Must be able to operate with high level of confidentiality

* Competent in FTA, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-ups and application

* Competent analytical, problem solving, judgement, decision-making and prioritization

* Competent drawing and layout skills/techniques, include understanding of CAE principles

* Competent in creating a plan and schedule

* Competent in understanding product development schedules

Additional Position Factors:

* Travel: Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.; includes possible overseas travel.

* Physical: Primarily works at a desk or scope; frequent keyboarding. Limited kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, or bending.

* Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting. May be exposed to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals and moving parts.

* Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities.

* Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental, safety, and company policies, Procedures, and rules.
