Position Summary:

The Blood Bank Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the Blood Bank in the Clinical Laboratory including staff performing testing and reporting test results. This position will perform all duties of a medical technologist while maintaining policies and procedures, quality indicators, and quality control in the Clinical Laboratory.

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or other health science field.

Required License:

None

Required Certification:

Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the ASCP or equivalent agency.

Other:

Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of general laboratory theory and practice, and apply these skills in clinical and managerial situations.

At least five years' experience in clinical laboratory techniques including Blood Bank comparable to those performed in this laboratory.

Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of general laboratory and Blood Bank specific theory and practice and apply these skills in clinical and managerial situations.
