HDR is looking for a Project Controls Team Leader in Charlotte, NC to assist in the management of the key project controls initiatives within our Resources Business Group in the Southeast U.S. The Project Controls Team Leader must be a professional who understands process of administering the non-technical elements of large programs that are tied together for the successful delivery of a project. They must have the emotional intelligence to build trusting relationships and close partnerships with Program/Project Managers, allowing them to do what they do best for serving our clients and delivering programs. They must be comfortable developing and maintaining procedures that help streamline project controls processes, and serving as a mentor to other project controls specialists. Specific responsibilities will include the development of project budgets and schedules, monitoring and tracking the progress of project work relative to established budgets and schedules, preparation of project budgets, scheduling status reports and presentations, working with Program/Project Managers to proactively identify developing project budgets, scheduling problems and implementing corrective actions, preparing cost accruals, performing estimates to completion, and managing the workload of the project controls teams. On a day-to-day basis, the Project Controls Team Leader will also be expected to:

* Work closely with Project Management to develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project

* Establish work breakdown structure (WBS), baseline, status, and monitor project schedules using established performance measurements

* Develop and maintain summary level schedule reports used to support critical path analysis, near-term deliverable requirements, resource allocations, performance variances, and to support cost/schedule integration

* Develop schedule version control processes, policies, and procedures

* Troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems

* Work closely with Project Management to develop and maintain financial reports using Microsoft Excel

* Perform financial reporting in financial planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects/programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience related to project controls work on engineering and construction projects, including planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports

  • Primavera P6 Experience

  • Extremely proficient in MS Excel

  • Strong decision-making skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with external as well as internal (HDR) clients, including individuals at other office locations

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including mentorship of other Project Control staff

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple long and short-term tasks simultaneously

  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction or Engineering

  • Project controls experience in an E/C company highly desired

  • Certifications (one or more): PSP, PMP, PE, CM, EVP, PMI-SP, CST

  • Ability to interpret construction schedules

  • Preference given to candidates local to the Charlotte, NC area

  • PMIS experience such as InEight, E-Builder, or ProCore
