About the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED):
The ED at Tufts MC is a vibrant environment open 24/7/365, caring for more than 50,000 adult and pediatric patients annually, and is responsible for over 40% of Tufts MC's admissions. We operate a full service Emergency Room: Level I Adult Trauma Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Pediatric Room and Express Care Center. Our team is ready to deal with any and every emergency, from a broken ankle to multi-trauma-related injuries from a motor vehicle accident. We are committed to providing the most advanced, quality care available.
The talented team in the ED consists of more than 60 RN's, several Board Certified Physicians, and experts from many different disciplines. Our team thrives in an environment that is professional, collaborative and respectful, and shares a common goal of treating the whole patient and providing the highest level of patient centered care.
Professional Development is important at Tufts MC and employees are encouraged to participate in research studies, Unit Practice Counsel, and other committees and sub-committees with a focus on advancing nursing practice and the care provided to our patients and the community. Tufts MC conducts groundbreaking research to advance trauma care and demonstrates strength in teaching, thoroughly training Nurses, Fellows, Residents, and Emergency Medical Technicians to become trauma experts. Research at Tufts MC and Floating Hospital for Children stands out, even in a national hub of medicine like Boston.
