Job Description - Belmont Operator 1 SD

Reports to: Area Supervision

Position Summary

Operate Belmont print line safely and efficiently.

Essential Functions

  • Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing all required personal protection equipment.

  • Be present and on time on scheduled workdays for the purpose of maintaining excellent customer service

Position Responsibilities

  • Constantly monitor dyeline (i.e. check dye levels in day tks and rollers for adequate levels, check for leaks, open valves as well as lap ups at tunnel, etc.) and inform supervisor immediately of any issues.
  • Inspect creel at shift change for bad splices, backwards packages and ensure that each end is in the correct guide going to the prefeed and correct as needed.
  • Inspect creel tensioners - they should be set at "2" and free of yarn waste.
  • When opening a new case of yarn, verify that the case label matches the cone labels and notify the supervisor or manager if labels do not match.
  • Verify the label matches the specified merge according to the creel specification in every package of yarn before creeling it in.
  • Inspect all incoming yarn packages for abnormalities and segregate any packages that are unacceptable to tie in on creel.
  • Inform supervisor and/or manager if chronic condition is noted on a particular yarn merge.
  • Keep isles and work area clean and clear of debris, plastic, cardboard, etc. by maintaining everything in its proper place.
  • When the winder doffs, the creeler is to assist the operator in reloading the winder and splicing in ends as needed.
  • Take tube from doff; then knit and properly labeling a sock from tube, compare to previous sample for variation. Notify supervisor and/or manager if there is variation in shade from prior sample.
  • Inform operator each time end is lost.
  • Assist the operator in putting back ends and/or keeping the winder running as needed.
  • Assist operator opposite if they are behind as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Maintain accurate records for each production lot ran on creeler's shift.
  • Perform any duties assigned by supervision.

  • Prerequisites Mandatory: Must be able to read and write
  • Must be able to communicate and understand instructions from supervisor
  • Preferred: H.S. or G.E.D
