The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Project Manager I- Operations. This position is for Reagents Assay Manufacturing specific to the Film Production area with focus with managing the project of building of a new replicate Film Coating Production machine. The Project Manager is a strategic business partner responsible for the oversight and leadership of activities on complex initiatives of each factory that have significant impact to the business. Substantial cross functional coordination is required to develop detailed project plans, guide teams on work content, ensure all work functions are meeting schedule, and monitor critical path deliverables and budgets. Anticipates, identifies, and addresses critical inter-dependencies and delivers insights through issue identification, resolution, and contingency planning, ultimately guiding teams towards milestone achievement. A Project Manager must have strong critical thinking and decision-making skills and the ability to influence without authority, infusing the project teams with a sense of urgency, ownership and accountability and culture of high performance.

This position is in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans including resource plan, communication plan, and timeline of activities required for success.

  • Runs meetings as required, with clear agendas, documents meeting outcomes and communicates tasks and timelines to internal and external team members.

  • Develop project budgets, including required labor, and manage project within budget constraints.

  • Help to develop project teams, define scope, set goals and select priorities.

  • Promotes and implements process improvements and project management best practice methodologies and tools.

  • Maintain a status dashboard of each project for report out, including status updates on progress, budgets, and risks for report out to senior leadership.

  • Creates a positive environment; instills sense of urgency and motivates the team.

  • "Perform other work-related duties as assigned."

  • Required Travel: Up to 25% domestic and or international

The Individual

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, Science or related field required.

  • A minimum of 8 years relevant Project/Program Management experience required.

  • Microsoft Suite proficiency is required.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a results-driven environment is essential.

  • The successful candidate must possess strong business acumen, exhibit sound judgment, be detail-oriented and display resourcefulness when responding to challenges.

  • Advanced degree (Masters or MBA) preferred.

  • Certification in PMP is preferred.

  • A candidate with Six Sigma/ Lean black belt is preferred.

  • Experience in a tightly regulated industry preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Project and Excel preferred.

Key Working Relationships

Internal Partners: Senior leadership, manufacturing operations, engineering, quality, regulatory and compliance teams, supply chain, sourcing.

External Partners: Strategic suppliers and partners.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. Up to 75% of the time at desk, standing or sitting extended periods of time. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.
