The Ag Technology Product Specialist will provide product expertise on John Deere equipment lines and build long-term relationships within the territory to maximize company profitability and market share. This individual will be expected to specialize in the equipment lines to provide support to the sales professionals and customers on the products.

Specific Duties of the Ag Technology Product Specialist Include:

  • Specialize in new technology and strive to offer resolutions to the challenges encountered by our area growers.
  • Be an expert in demonstrating equipment.
  • Create solutions to the complex problems our area growers face by helping them improve their financials and creating a more sustainable environment.
  • Work with growers to train and support their integration and use of John Deere's Operation Center.
  • Coordinate the delivery of all new machines and provide onsite operation and maintenance training. Regularly follow up with customers' deliveries to ensure they remain fully trained, well-supported, and highly satisfied.
  • Promote, train, and support equipment operators to engage acres through documentation and data gathering.
  • Ensure our in-house departments are trained to sell and support all technology products.
  • Increase market share and profitability for the stated range of products within the geographic area.
  • Work closely with the internal sales team to develop targeted plans to provide area growers with advanced solutions through technology.
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge on all equipment sold within the dealership's area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and conduct field demonstrations.
  • Develop relationships and networks throughout the industry to monitor and participate in all product activities. Know the market; where future work will be done, where it is currently being done and by whom. Develop an open and "real-time" channel of communication throughout the industry. Be recognized as a solutions provider and a wealth of expertise for our customers. Be on every job site and deal.
  • Create opportunities by evaluating customer fleets and techniques, and proactively propose better solutions.
  • Be a primary channel of communication for product technical and commercial issues with manufacturing partners.
  • Be an active and obvious participant in industry groups and events and keep abreast of competitive activity, products, and pricing.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and the community to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location-driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings, and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Ag Technology Product Specialist Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience in an industry-related role with involvement in activities such as sales, service, training, or other related work.
  • Have experience (or able to learn) how to operate large farm equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding of local market conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
