You will join our Southeast Advanced Manufacturing Civil, Structural and Architectural department
As our new Structural engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team of building design professionals who execute interesting and diverse projects in the municipal, industrial, institutional and commercial sectors. Our team is at the forefront of helping clients achieve their built environment goals emphasizing sustainability concepts. You will have opportunities to collaborate with design and construction professionals in all the Ramboll business units and organizations in the Americas and globally including Environment & Health, Water, and Advanced Manufacturing.

The Engineer will perform routine to average-complexity technical work. Engineers at this level apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with engineering standards and established criteria to analyze and interpret information from various sources as required for completing assigned project tasks. The individual must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment in selecting and applying engineering standards.

Your core responsibilities will be:
  • Prepares basic designs and performs calculations in support of projects of routine to average complexity, following design, construction, and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.
  • Analyzes survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, geologic data and other data to plan projects of routine to average complexity. Makes deductions from analyses as required to create design deliverables for review by a senior engineer.
  • Develops work products that align with client standards.
  • Consistently utilizes sound judgment and discretion in performance of tasks.
  • Gathers and records information to be used for writing specifications
  • Reviews vendor submittals and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepares and presents routine technical reports.
  • Develop a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Visits job sites to gain field experience, broaden background, and develop practical engineering skills. Incorporates knowledge from field visit into performance of office-based tasks.
  • Participates actively in creating a safety culture in the office and at the jobsite.
  • Adheres to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll’s Company Strategy and Project Delivery model.
  • Exhibits basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with drawing production tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis software (Finite Element Analysis software such as STAAD, RISA).
  • Strong relationship building with the other teams/divisions/disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work effectively in team comprised of professionals with diverse skill sets, including engineers from other trades and scientists.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology and 8+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the engineering/design field.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) Certification
