Primary Purpose of Department
The Academic Affairs Budget Team supports resource management for the Division of Academic Affairs at UNC Charlotte. The division consists of eight colleges and multiple academic support units including the Graduate School, Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Education, Libraries, and others. The annual operating budget for the division is in excess of $400 million per year out of a university budget approaching $1 billion.
Primary Purpose of Position
This position will support resource management for the division, assist with budget planning, process various financial transactions, perform monthly financial reconciliations, and lead projects and initiatives unique to academic affairs.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
This position will support resource management for the division by partnering with various academic support units, assisting with budget planning for annual operations of $17 million, processing various financial transactions, performing monthly financial reconciliations, and leading projects and initiatives unique to academic affairs. This position reports to the Director of Academic Budget.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate's degree in accounting; or Associate's degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Professional experience in higher education and/or public sector.
  • Accounting proficiency, experience working with multiple fund types, proficiency in data analysis and compiling reports for decision-making, strong organizational skills, advanced verbal and written communication skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in working with various data management and financial tools including, but not limited to, Microsoft Applications (Excel), Google Suite (Sheets), Enterprise Systems such as Banner/PeopleSoft that include a broad suite of tools to support institution-wide business functions (finance, hr, purchasing, travel, etc.).
  • Ability to learn new tools to meet unique needs of the organization such as website, Smartsheet.
