Job Duties & Responsibilities:

In the Research, Analytics and Development (RAD) department, we apply statistical and advanced modeling techniques to a myriad of types of data. The 10-week paid Product Development Internship consist of three possible tracks, interns will have the opportunity to work with our Customer Analytics, Systems, and/or Modeling teams.

RAD's Customer Analytics team uses predictive customer analytics and business knowledge to develop and implement innovative solutions that result in industry-leading product segmentation and customer experience. A typical day may include using various programming languages to maximize the applicability of internal and external data sources, monitoring GEICO's competitive position, and presenting strategic business proposals to senior management. The group collaborates frequently with various GEICO groups including Marketing, sales, Underwriting, Product Management, and Actuary to develop new product proposals and features, ensuring we create and implement the best products and positively impact growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

RAD Systems plays a key role in the development lifecycle for all underwriting systems as their teams are tasked with coordinating all testing requirements and plans for execution, systems maintenance, release testing, and other critical activities that keep our systems performing in the way they are expected to. You will be working with teams that are in charge of various applications that are pivotal to GEICO's success.

RAD Modeling focuses on the development, maintenance, and interpretation of GEICO's models to improve our pricing strategy and determine the impacts of pricing and product proposals. This is to ensure that the most effective strategies and proposals are selected to improve our growth, profitability, retention, and customer experience.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field with a minimum 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA
  • Candidates must be rising seniors (i.e. graduating in December 2022 or May 2023)
  • Programming experience, including SQL, prefer at least one of R, Python, SAS, or similar; demonstrated ability to learn new tools
  • Exposure to SDLC and methodologies such as waterfall and agile are preferred
  • Familiarity with system testing and/or modeling methods such as VISIO, ADO, GLM, Random Forest, and/or GBM
  • Advanced quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work under deadlines
