Intralox L.L.C., the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has two positions available for a Shipping Supervisor at our Hanover, Elkridge, and Sparrows Point, MD facilities. The selected individual will ensure shipping employees perform job responsibilities with a focus on timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and supervision of shipping team members, including scheduling and time card approval. Set high standards and achieve them.
  • Ensure shipping employees perform job responsibilities with a focus on timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Ensure all shipping documents are created and maintained accurately. Maintain zero separation between physical activities and system data.
  • Ownership of Finished Goods inventory, ensuring that product is accounted for and shipped properly and on-time.
  • Develop improvement plans to increase efficiency in the shipping operation.
  • Provides timely, specific feedback to subordinates. This includes quarterly feedback and performance improving planning in line with the Laitram Continuous Improvement timeline.
  • Perform shipping functions as needed, including driving a forklift, palletizing product, and setting the example regarding 5S and other manufacturing best practices.
  • Learn, embody, and teach Laitram's LCI principles.
  • Prioritize SAFETY above all else.
  • Interviews and hires candidates to Shipping team when appropriate.
  • Provides feedback on truck layouts to ensure efficient use of trailer space.
  • Works closely with Project Managers to communicate schedule changes for ship dates.
  • Contacts dispatchers and logistical representatives to follow up on trucking request.
  • Submit pallet orders to outside vendors within a timely fashion for shipment preparation.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Production Management, Supply Chain, or commensurate experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • At least two (2) years of experience reading and writing bills of lading, booking and scheduling trucks, or related shipping experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience operating lift equipment, including forklift.
  • Basic computer skills and proficient in Excel/SmartSheets
  • Experience using freight carrier systems.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position as detailed in the functional job description.

  • Expects mistakes and can correct quickly.
  • Stable work history.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to adjust to a fast pace environment and solve last minute shipping requests.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite.

  • Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations.
  • Extremely high standards of excellence.
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs. as part of work duties.
  • A valid driver's license.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a dispatcher or transportation clerk.
  • Qualified forklift certification.
  • Previous experience with ERP Systems such as Oracle or SAP.
