Background:

MSH is a nonprofit international health organization with nearly 2,500 people from over 74 nationalities working in over 40 countries. Our mission: Saving lives and improving the health of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health. Together with our partners, we are helping managers and leaders in developing countries to create stronger management systems that improve health services for the greatest health impact.

MSH's Health Financing, Technologies, and Market Dynamics practice area is focused on helping countries and communities make evidence-informed decision-making surrounding new and existing health technologies, resource allocation, operational efficiency, and optimization. We are currently supporting Ministries of Health to generate evidence on the costs and resource gaps of providing high-quality primary health care (PHC) services to advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC). As part of this work, we are developing a tool and supporting data collection and analysis to support decision-making on PHC planning, facilitate resource allocation and budgeting, and help to improve PHC system performance.

Responsibilities:

• Support management, cleaning, and analysis of PHC cost and programmatic data sets (e.g. health information systems, health facility surveys, and interviews).
• Assist with the development and piloting of PHC costing tool training materials and training of Ministry of Health staff.
• Conduct research on relevant issues pertaining to PHC service delivery and costs.
• Develop data visualizations (e.g. dashboards and GIS maps) to effectively communicate study results to stakeholders.
• Assist with the write-up of study findings (for project reports, presentations, peer-reviewed publication, and conference abstracts) based on data analysis.
• Participate in relevant internal team meetings in addition to those with relevant stakeholders (Ministries of Health and local partners)

Qualifications:

• Current graduate student in Public Health / Health Economics
• Experience in the use of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Demonstrated experience with data management tools (such as SQL, Stata.) for data management, cleaning, and processing.
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
• Strong ability to lead by example, with integrity, purpose, and commitment to the attainment of MSH's goals and commitment to technical excellence.
• Fully aligned with MSH mission and values.
