Description

Fall Internship runs from August - December 2019

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An OAI Safety and Security internship is designed to provide enrolled students insight, and exposure into the global operations of a safety and security within an airline. Duties shall include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Manager of Internal Evaluation with identifying non-conformance with regulation or company policy throughout the Company
  • Conduct safety and security related studies
  • Assist the Aviation Safety Action Program Manager with the Company's Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP)
  • Monitor industry safety and security concerns which may have an impact on operations
  • Monitor global news events and advise the department on situations unfolding around the world
  • Prepare reports for the Vice President Safety and Security, Director of Safety and Security, the Manager of Internal Evaluation, the Aviation Safety Action Program Manager, the Safety and Security Analyst, the Safety and Security Specialist and senior management staff as needed
  • Receive, compile and analyze aviation safety related reports
  • Prepare and write reports, documents, spreadsheets and correspondence
  • Compile and publish periodical distributions from departmental staff
  • Perform other incidental duties as may be assigned by the Manager of Safety and Security

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a university, college, or technical school
  • Possess broad general aviation education
  • The ability for clear expression in writing
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Organizational ability
  • The capability of working independently (at times under pressure)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Be worthy of commanding respect among peers and management officials
  • Able to provide own housing and transportation during employment
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screen

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a university, college, or technical college
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0

Preferred:

  • Declared major or minor in aviation or aerospace

  • Requires ability to handle multiple activities at once and complete in a timely manner

  • Ability to complete routine forms, use existing form letters, and/or conduct routine oral communication
