Corporate Communications Intern (Houston) (COM00501)

Job Summary:
Provide support to Corporate Communications group and gain experience working on a variety of projects with an emphasis on writing and editing for a variety of styles, including news/editorial, employee communication, web-based and electronic communication.

Essential Functions:
*Write and edit materials that support Corporate Communications internal and external communications, including employee communications and media relations initiatives
*Work with media relations team on drafting news releases or pitching story ideas
*Conduct interviews, draft stories and web content for intranet
*Use SharePoint to publish content to intranet
*Take photographs, as assigned
*Develop digital signage
*Occasionally staff internal, media or public events to distribute promotional items or safety information
*Participate in general internship program as available, which offers professional growth opportunities


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
Currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or other related field.
Experience:
No prior work experience required

Working Conditions:
Physical Requirements
*Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer
*Able to view personal computer monitor for long periods of time
*Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, man/or a minimum amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
*Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, mobile phone and other office equipment
*hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone.
*Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods

Working Conditions:
*Able to work successfully in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines
*Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office
