The Certified Genetic Counselor I works within a team setting to provide genetic counseling services, education and support to patients and families, and serve as a reference to staff as appropriate. In collaboration with other genetic counselors, they will review family histories and determine eligibility for genetic testing to assess patients risk for a variety of inherited conditions; and provide patients and families with support in making decisions based on genetic test results.

- Assists in training genetic counseling graduate students, other professional students and interested genetic counseling applicants
- Participation within Cone Heath genetic counseling community and the larger community through professional state and national organizations
- Continues to gather appropriate CEUs for certification and licensure maintenance
| EDUCATION: |
| REQUIRED Master's Degree from an ACGC accredited genetic counseling program or equivalent |
