Your Opportunity

Position will prepare and produce vaccines and run quality control routines. Sample handling for all diagnostic testing. Mix medications as needed by production. Perform general housekeeping and stock inventory. Position will have the opportunity to move into performing diagnostic testing if desired and will be required to achieve high quality results. Environment is customer service oriented, fast paced, and requires a willingness to learn.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and prepare samples for internal and external diagnostic testing without supervision. Prepare laboratory/regulatory paperwork for testing with seamless communication between field staff and diagnostic laboratory service providers.
  • Monitor all submissions for 'best practice incentives', providing feedback to those making sample submissions to optimize incentives.
  • Vaccine production and quality control.
  • Work in fast paced environment with efficiency and accuracy, including computer-based data. Manage and prioritize daily schedule with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain results from diagnostic monitoring programs to aid veterinary team in health-based decisions.
  • Maintain inventory and purchase supplies.
  • Produce field sampling kits for distribution to production specialists and farm managers.
  • Clean and sanitize laboratory containers and tools.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including: autoclaves, incubators, centrifuges, water bath, pumps, BIO-Tec reader, water distillation machine, automatic wall washer, thermal cycler, freezers and more.
  • Good communication skills and customer service oriented attitude.
  • Back up administrative assistant position when needed.
  • Operate UPS shipping system.
  • Manage Biohazard handling and sample disposal.
  • Perform tasks which may have objectionable odors.
  • Perform procedures involving chemicals.
  • Follow all IPS (safety), EMS, and laboratory policies. Maintain documentation for auditing purposes.
  • Follow IATA 1.5 diagnostic shipping regulations.
  • Work schedule may require flexibility including ability to work weekend days, holidays or evenings once candidate has demonstrated necessary technical ability.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Lab Experience preferred
  • Basic swine knowledge preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge required (Microsoft Office programs)
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Salary Range

$13.94 - $20.98
