Position Overview

Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide building trade services to the University's Academic and Auxiliary Services Buildings. These trades include, but are not limited to: carpentry, painting, locksmithing, plastering, masonry, roofing, and other various repairs ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled. The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of standard practices in building trades, new construction and renovation/remodeling. Must be able to measure accurately; skilled at using power tools and hand tools used in the trades; skilled at painting, caulking and repairing holes in walls. Must be able to complete work order requests for assigned trades in a safe and efficient manner and close assigned work orders using the Team Dynamix System. Job may require other related building duties to be assigned. Employee must work "on call" during the approved appointed scheduled dates and times when requested. This also includes on callback work if needed.

Facilities Management exists for the purpose of designing, construction, maintaining and operating the facilities necessary to house and support the University's academic and service programs

Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Completion of High School and two years of progressive experience in the preparation and painting of interior and exterior walls, carpentry, doors, etc. or a combination of education and experience. Must be knowledgeable in the use of the tools of the trade and repairing of holes, wear and tear, etc.

This is primarily a carpenter position. The chosen candidate must know the various tools that go along with carpentry work. The repairs to be made will be things such as wall repair, hanging items in classrooms and offices, window or minor roof repairs, and others as relayed by their supervisor. This position may also be asked to help out in other trades if needed, this is an excellent opportunity to cross train in other areas.
