Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit | The Division of Information Technology (IT) strengthens and supports the University's mission of exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service by providing the information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support to achieve the University's strategic goals. IT is composed of four departments which work with the university community to provide the information technology support and services required to realize operational excellence, integrate advanced technology, and create efficient and effective technology solutions. |
Description of Work | This position will design and build web pages to meet the needs of the university. The individual will use a variety of software and tools. The position requires the individual to develop and code websites. This position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various departments. This position involves following project guidelines and image integration into site pages while assuring the overall design and aesthetic match. Additionally, this role will be involved in larger projects, team support & continuous improvement of products & processes. This is a full-time, 100% remote position. |
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position | Experience in design & development of websites. Planning and executing design. Ability to maintain and upgrade existing client websites. Complete understanding of HTML 5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Ability to work with SVG, CSS Animations, and jQuery. Experience with PHP, My SQL, FTP, and server admin. Strong background with Adobe Creative Suite. Understanding of UI/UX Design. Ability to collaborate with team members in both technical and non-technical roles at the university. Excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a logical approach to work. Ability to explain technical matters clearly to end users and stakeholders who may have little knowledge of IT. Good knowledge of legislation and guidelines for website accessibility and how to implement them. Evidence of excellent creative and technical skills through a portfolio of past work samples. Experience in working with and implementing web security measures. Experience in ensuring browser and device compatibility, methods for degrading for older browsers and displays and file compression techniques for improving speed. |
Minimum Training and Experience | Master's and 2-4 years' experience; bachelor's and 3-5 years' experience, or equivalent education/experience. |
