POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
 
POSITION TITLE:   Production Planner                                                             DATE:  May 2024

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Production Planner reports to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for managing the ERP system for assigned customers; coordinating customer demand/schedules with manufacturing processes for customers; relays any customer communication, changes and schedule issues with the operations team and is responsible for ensuring those operations are in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as required.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Responsible for the coordination of Company manufacturing services and/or products meeting customer demand and schedule.
  2. Manage assigned projects thru the ERP system and notify the assembly team of any issues
  3. Update the ERP system with revised information.
  4. Maintain up-to-date and accurate order records using the Company contact database and customers’ web based portals as well as verbal communication.
  5. Travel to vendors and customers as needed.
  6. Formulate project schedules and plans to position the company to meet customer expectations.
  7. Develop contact with customers via direct contact, phone, e-mail, or other means available for the purpose of updating customer schedules and requesting technical and non-technical information for manufacturing to successfully complete customer jobs.
  8. Understand the technical scope of our manufacturing capabilities and use their customer liaisons to further improve our process and delivery performance as well as customer sales.
  9. Communicate with customers regarding project requirements and schedules.  Handle and communicate customer’s complaints/concerns with honesty, sincerity and help internal staff to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  10. Assist and support manufacturing planning/scheduling in meeting Customer’s expectations.
  11. Participate in weekly Sales and Production Meetings.
  12. Assist Sales Manager and Manufacturing Group in administrative duties as required.
  13. Communicate customer sales activity and project progress with Sales Manager to support sales growth and process capacity.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
 
  1. Three to six years of demonstrated successful project and customer interface experience in a technical atmosphere and bachelor’s degree in a business or supply chain field preferred.
  2. CPIM certification desired.
  3. Strong background in Production control systems.
  4. Prefer manufacturing background (aerospace and/or automotive).
  5. Computer proficient especially with Microsoft products and databases.
  6. Ability to perform Project Planning for new products and customers.
  7. Ability to communicate at all levels with prospective customers. Must have outstanding oral and written communication skills to include:  Creation/preparation of briefing charts and detailed correspondence/documents. Verbally expressing ideas and thoughts in joint meetings/formal briefings with staff
  8. Problem solver in a team atmosphere.
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision, in a team atmosphere.
  10. Assertive, aggressive and good at time management, being able to manage multiple tasks.
  11. Positive spokesperson for the Company included commitment, positive attitude and professionalism.
  12. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and requests for quotes.
  13. APICS certification would be a plus.

Physical Requirements:  This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform office and clerical duties including use of office tools.

Working Environment:  The working environment is corporate office facility.  Daily contact with employees in other departments is required. Some travel with overnight stays is required.
