Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The TEACCH Autism Program began in 1972 as a system of university-based regional centers to serve children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. As part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program has an active clinical, teaching, and research program. TEACCH operates seven community regional clinics across the state. Each center offers a set of core services along with unique demonstration programs meeting the needs of individuals with ASD, their families, and professionals across the state of North Carolina. Also, part of TEACCH are the Carolina Living and Learning Center, a residential/vocational training facility for autistic adults as well as an Employment Services program providing Job Coaching and related services to adults on the spectrum.

TEACCH is part of the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program and faculty are actively involved in student and professional training activities within the state, nation, and across the world. All TEACCH programs are coordinated through a central administration and research unit in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

TEACCH provides clinical services such as diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, speech language therapy, and parent support groups. In addition, TEACCH conducts training nationally and internationally and provides consultation for teachers, residential care providers, and other professionals from a variety of disciplines. Research activities include clinical trials intervention and implementation studies.

This position is located at the TEACCH Administration & Research Office in Carrboro, NC.
Position Summary
This position serves in the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for the TEACCH Autism Program. Responsibilities of this position encompass all aspects of Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, Facilities, and Information Technology to ensure successful Clinical, Research, Training and General Operations. A few examples include:
* Leadership in the development and implementation of the TEACCH Strategic Plan.
* Create and/or implement processes, procedures, new systems, and internal controls to streamline administrative activities and support clinical and program activities while ensuring compliance with regulations (HIPAA, HR, Fiscal, UNC HC, Medicaid, DHHS).
* Analyze clinical, teaching and other relevant data to set Center and Program goals within TEACCH and establish individual budgets as well as the overall budget.
* Ensure adequate funding, space and infrastructure support for all TEACCH faculty and staff.

TEACCH is part of the School of Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill and NC AHEC. TEACCH operations include seven UNC HC Faculty Practice outpatient clinics across the state of North Carolina, a residential program (24/7/365 facility for adults with Autism and/or other intellectual and developmental disabilities), an Employment Services program with two divisions serving more than 500 adults with autism per year in obtaining and maintaining employment, an extensive training and consultation program for professionals in both education and health care and a rapidly expanding research program with TEACCH faculty currently leading projects awarded more than 12.3 million, most of which has been awarded in the last 12-18 months for several multiyear, multi-site projects. TEACCH has 53 full and part-time faculty and is currently recruiting for 11 additional full-time faculty. TEACCH employs 170 full and part-time staff and is currently recruiting for 18 additional staff including 5 research staff.

TEACCH is operating under a $14.5 million budget for FY23. Recent research awards were not included in that budget.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum qualifications of an advanced degree, masters or higher (or foreign degree equivalent), and no less than 5 to 7 years of management-level experience in the full range of administrative and financial functions of an academic department or research center in a higher education, research, or health care setting. Candidates with 7 to 10 years of directly comparable experience may substitute for the required advanced degree in which case a bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and the requisite experience is mandatory.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must be able to plan, design and implement multiple initiatives and projects on time and within budget; have proven organizational and leadership skills including effective communication of vision, goals, expectations and performance feedback, and skills to work effectively with faculty members, senior administrators, program directors, UNC-CH campus officers, and external agency officials. Must have extensive expertise in systems analysis, design implementation and testing.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Master's Degree in Business, Accounting or related discipline
10+ years relevant experience in organizational leadership and management
Experience in both research and clinical administration within an academic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
