Job Description
Responsibilities

The UR Precert Specialist will be responsible for completing all precerts for the hospital. This position possesses the knowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally. The UR Precert Specialist evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient's illness and the appropriateness of level of care, serves as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies, and negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. The UR Precert Specialist has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages patient benefits.

Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Graduate or Equivalent. Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human service or related field preferred.

Experience:

Two years' utilization reviewer experience preferred.

Physical requirements:

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Job may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
