Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of the Fayetteville State University School of Nursing is to educate culturally competent, ethical, and caring nurses for a global society. The School is committed to educating graduates who will provide evidence-based and patient-centered care to promote the optimal health of clients throughout their lives and in various settings.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The School of Nursing seeks a committed scholar and nursing educator capable of contributing to the continued expansion of the School of Nursing for an open rank, tenure track position to begin in Fall 2024. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the School of Nursing across the curriculum, engaging in active scholarship, and in university and professional service.

The Assistant/Associate Professor position will teach nursing courses and develop instructional material related to the area assigned. The Assistant Professor will evaluate student clinical performance according to established criteria and course objectives. In addition, the Assistant/Associate Professor will perform related duties such as advising students on academic curricula, formal and informal instruction, counseling students, original work or research, preparation of new courses, and serving on various campus and community committees.
Description of Work Continued:
Teaching - 80%:
Teaching classes in the School of Nursing with a teaching assignment guided by the FSU Faculty Workload Policy. Classes may include face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online teaching. Opportunities for summer teaching are available and encouraged. Summer teaching is paid on a contractual basis and is not considered part of the annual salary.
Service- 10%:
Participate in active service to the School of Nursing, College of Health Science and Technology, FSU, the community, and the profession.

Scholarship- 10%:
Participate in active scholarship relevant to the profession through publication, grant writing, and other scholarly initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
The Assistant/Associate Professor position requires an earned doctorate in nursing and a master's degree in nursing.
Extensive nursing education experience with relevant clinical nursing experience.
Record of Scholarship sufficient for eligibility in a tenure track faculty position.
The Assistant/Associate Professor position requires an unrestricted North Carolina RN license.
