The School of Theatre and Dance, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 Acting, Dance Performance and Choreography, Design and Production, Musical Theatre, Stage Management, Theatre Arts Education, and Theatre for Youth Majors and Minors with over 30 Faculty and Staff. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
Job Duties
This position's purpose as the Musical Director/Accompanist/Performing Artist is to improve the academic preparation of the School of Theatre and Dance and its students through supplemental instruction and to enhance the educational experience of enrolled university students as Musical Director for the ECU/Loessin Playhouse.

Responsibilities will include accompaniment for BFA in Theatre - Musical Theatre Repertoire Studios; instruction of Basic Piano Musicianship Laboratory and Beginning Group Piano for Theatre Arts Majors; improvised and/or composed piano accompaniment for Dance Classes; service as Music Director in rotation for the Loessin Playhouse Main Stage and workshop productions; and additional duties as assigned by the School's Director.

This position is contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Education/Experience
Master of Music degree in piano or related area sufficient to demonstrate technical and artistic skills in music theory, composition, sight-reading, arranging and improvisation.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Ability to utilize inclusive teaching strategies that engage with students of diverse experiences and evolving world-views. Experience teaching at the university level and/or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
