Project Accountant

This position is a hybrid position with 2 days required in office during the week; Wednesday is mandatory for all employees.

Overview

As a member of Stewart's Accounting Team, you will also be a part of a company focused on providing a trusting and empowering culture to its employees. You will have the opportunity to work with our six practice areas and the amazing projects they create to better the communities we serve. You have an opportunity to partner with key individuals in our Practice Areas, build meaningful relationships, and help them reach their profitability goals. As a project accountant at Stewart, you will be the designated "go to" person for all things related to the financial health of a project. From an accounting standpoint, you will oversee the lifecycle of a project.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand project contracts
  • Set up and close-out projects in Vision following established guidelines
  • Prepare pre-billing report for Project Manager review
  • Update billing terms based on the marked-up pre-billing report from the Project Manager
  • Prepare invoices accurately and in a timely manner to submit to the client
  • Prepare project reports as needed
  • Responsible for the collections on outstanding invoices
  • Lead monthly AR meetings with Practice Leader and Project Managers

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or combination of Associates Degree and relevant industry work experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience working within engineering, architectural, design, or construction required.
  • Strong analytical skills and a self-starter.
  • Experience with Deltek Vision preferred.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills both internal and external.
  • Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Willing and able to perform the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to,
  • Continuous operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, phone, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Constant communication with others that involves expressing ideas and exchanging information (in English), as well as observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information.
  • Continuous understanding of direction, reading, comprehending, and using written materials.
  • Willing and able to work in a professional, climate-controlled office environment. There are moderate noise levels (i.e., business office with computers, phone, electronically induced white noise, printers, occasionally train whistles and light traffic sounds). The office has exposure to lots of light, both natural and artificial. The workstation is in an open space layout with frequent collaboration and interactions from co-workers throughout the day.
