The Role:

Our site in Riegelwood, NC is seeking a 2nd shift Process Chemist to join our team. In this role, you will support manufacturing, new product development, scale up and continual improvement. The Process Chemist will be part of the Site Leadership Team to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvements.

What You'll Do:

• Develop a strong working knowledge of processes ranging in scale from 5L to 1000 Gal

• Execute standard batch manufacturing processes

• May be required to adjust schedule to cover shifts or to support the implementation of new processes

• Process monitoring, troubleshooting, and identification of deviations

• Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and yield

• Coordinate with the management team to evaluate the feasibility of new projects

• Write and revise SOP's

• Accurate SAP order execution

• Maintain accurate, detailed records

• Communicate and present information in a clear, organized manner

• Operate forklift, pumps, valves, and other miscellaneous equipment

• Troubleshoot and perform minor routine maintenance as required

• Demonstrated conformance to the Quality Management System

• Comply with safety and environmental requirements

• Work in a cross-functional team to drive safety, quality and continuous improvements

• Other functions as requested by management

What We Seek:

• B.S. in chemistry or related discipline

• Experience with SAP is preferred

• Experience in the Chemical Industry preferred

• Experience interpreting analytical results, such as GC, HPLC, FTIR, etc

• Independent and motivated self-learner

• Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace

• Strong independent operation skills and ability to complete lab work safely

• Strong organizational skills and meticulous documentation habits

• Strong written and oral communication skills with experience in presenting results

• Ability to multitask and prioritize

• Commitment to safety and continual improvement

• Must be able to wear a respirator

• Ability to drive a forklift

• The position will require moderate physical effort with heavy lifting (50-lbs), walking, bending, loading items on shelves, shrink-wrapping pallets, labeling drums, pails, or boxes, and loading/unloading trucks with a forklift

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

• Relevant industrial experience, particularly with scale-up development desired

• Proficiency with computers. i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet
