Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Department of Physiology houses internationally recognized investigators whose research programs in basic and applied biomedical sciences emphasize the study of cellular and molecular basis of tissue function. The research programs are focused on understanding the integrative mechanisms of physiological processes within the context of both health and disease. |
Job Duties | The postdoctoral scholar is responsible for independent and collaborative development, implementation, and analysis of scientific research focused on describing and evaluating the ability of SDF-1 based therapeutics to recover erectile function in rodent models of erectile dysfunction. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to to writing experimental protocols, organizing, implementing, and carrying out experiments, overseeing data collection and experimental procedures, recording and managing data, implementing quality control practices, analyzing data with various statistical techniques, and preparing data for dissemination at local/regional/national/international scientific meetings and submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals for publication. The postdoctoral scholar also will help to supervise undergraduate and graduate research students, comply established guidelines and regulatory standards for research including biosafety, responsible conduct of research and appropriate IACUC training. Approximately 85% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to planning and design of experiments and performing experiments associated with the lab's established experimental protocols. Approximately 15% of the postdoctoral scholar's time will be devoted to managing the day-to-day activity of undergraduate and graduate research students in the laboratory.
